Day 1
Picture this. You leave the US and board a plane where the majority of the guests are attending the same wedding you are. Careful planning, promises of unlimited cocktails and of course the love of two beautiful people has brought you all together. The bride and groom make their way down aisles to greet their guests. In the midst of all the chatter, an air of excited expectation is rife within the cabin, which begins the long haul trip from the US to a tiny tropical island.
Disembarking onto the humid Fijian tarmac, a large coach collects you and drops you off straight to Port Denarau where a chartered yacht awaits. Boarding is a swift process, and a short ride later you arrive to the stunning Lomani Resort. Beer pong tables, lawn games, custom floats are casually bobbing in the pool…the island has been prepared and waiting patiently for the week long festivities that would ensue.

Day 2
The party is off with a stunning success. Guests slowly leave their waterfront bungalows to a waiting boat, that would take them to the infamous floating bar, Cloud 9. The sea was glass, the ride was smooth, and any conversation was soon drowned out by loud blaring speakers that amicably drew everyone in. A casual menu of pizzas and any drink you’d like was available throughout the day, though came second to the crystal blue waters of a perfect swimming day. We even spied long nosed fish which I thought were young swordfish, though one of the guests scoffed that they may likely be barracudas. We wouldn’t know, we just know which ones are good for eating. Are barracudas even local?
